General Rules

General rules for the operation and Care of the Premises
  • Persons should enter the premises by the front door PULLING THE RIGHT HAND DOORS ONLY (as viewed) – or leave by PUSHING THE LEFT HAND DOORS ONLY (as viewed) NOTE:- the ‘PUSH BUTTONS’ are provided for use ONLY by persons with a significant handicap. Incorrect use can lead to excessive strain on the system, and will be considered to be an offence.
  • So that a check can be made in the event of an emergency, it is ESSENTIAL for Fire & Safety Regulations that EVERY Person entering the premises should REGISTER their presence – by signing-in, or depositing a card or list indicating who is present in the case of Groups – (see 5 below). Do this at Reception, where the Instructor in charge should designate a Helper to act as Receptionist for the Session – in the event of an emergency the receptionist will LEAVE LAST, with the Register
  •  Similarly the Building contains many sophisticated systems – with switches and buttons, etc, in strange places – these MUST not be touched without specific authority, and again incorrect use will be regarded as an offence
  • In particular, the FIRE ALARM buttons MUST NOT be pressed when horses are in use in the Arena, or even on the premises – the Alarms are extremely loud, and could cause panic until the horses become familiar with the sound. The horses will need further familiarisation with the sound system
  • Specific procedures for evacuation in the event of a fire have been issued, but in principle each person (& horse as appropriate) should exit through the nearest WHITE door, and congregate by the Electrical Hut in the side Car park for checking.
  • Access to the upper Viewing Galleries will be restricted during RDA Sessions, and must be supervised. The Lift System is now operational, but generally will be available ONLY to persons with physical disabilities. The lift cannot be used while the roller shutter at the stair-foot is closed.
  • At present ONLY the two central Viewing Galleries are available for use. – entry to the spaces at either end of the top floor IS PROHIBITED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE – THIS IS A LEGAL REQUIREMENT and must be regarded as a disciplinary issue.
